Main View

This is the main window that you'll interact with the most when using Mileage Wizard. It shows all gas item items by date.  The drop list in the top acts as a filter.  You can filter by All or by a specific vehicle.  When filtering by All, each vehicle can be identified by the icon you assigned to it in the New Vehicle screen.

Clicking on any of the column headers results in the list being sorted by that respective column.

Import Wizard

This wizard provides a intuitive way to import your existing mileage data. To make the best use of this wizard, ensure that your import file is in CSV format (comma-delimited is preferred), and have the first row contain labels for each of the columns. Having labels makes the mapping step much easier.

Page 1

This page is used to setup defaults and general parsing information to help the wizard automatically parse out your import file. When first appearing, this page shows only the Vehicle and Load controls. Click the '...' button to browse for your csv file, then click the Load button. This causes the wizard to detect the contents of your import file. After the initial detection, the Detected settings controls appear.

Vehicle
The vehicle to import the fuel items into.
Load The filename to import goes into this text field. You can browse for a file using the '...' button. Click the Load button to have the wizard detect and show settings.

Skip first line Check this if the first line of your import file contains column names.
Column separator Select the character that separates the data in your import file.
Type Select whether these are personal or business items.
Date format The date format to use as validation while parsing each entry. This defaults to the date format from your regional settings.

Distance Select the distance type, whether it be kilometers or miles. This defaults to what you have selected in Options.
Page 2

This page provides a way for you to map your import file's fields to Mileage Wizard's fuel item fields. The wizard initially tries to automatically map each of your import file's fields. Your import file's fields can be selected in each combobox. Setting the combo to '<default>' results in this fuel item's field being set to its default value.

Page 3

This page lists each record found in your import file and its state of validity. A green icon represents a valid row; a red icon represents a row that isn't valid and is not allowed to be imported in its current state. You can edit each row by double-clicking on it. If editing an invalid row, the invalid fields are highlighted in red for easier identification. Check each row that you'd like to include in the import. When you are ready to complete the import, click the Ok button on the bottom toolbar.

Export Dialog

This dialog allows you to export all or a subset of records into CSV format.  This resulting CSV file could then be transferred to your PC and read into spreadsheet programs such as Microsoft Excel.

This dialog allows you to perform a quick mileage calculation.  Simply enter values into the Quantity and Distance fields, select the mileage type (in the Results section droplist) and click Calculate.  The value in the edit box recalculates if you have values entered and choose a different mileage type.  This dialog is handy for performing a quick calculation that you don't want to save.

Auto Archive

Your data file grows as you add items. To help keep your data manageable, you need another place to store (archive) old items that are still important but not immediately necessary for reference. Misc
Save data file to
Allows you to set where you'd like Mileage Wizard to save its data file. This is especially handy if you synchronize any directories through ActiveSync, which can be set to include the data file for backup on your PC.
When to save data This option gives you control as to when the data file is saved. It used to only be saved on application exit, but some users were losing data while having Mileage Wizard running and having to do a soft reset, resulting in their data being lost. Having this option configurable reduces the chance of lost data.
